ODBDSLC201 - Wing it

It's time for another Our Daily Bread Designs challenge. This week the challenge, ODBDSLC201, theme is "Wing it" - use wings somewhere on your creation. I have created a few different projects for this weeks challenge and I've gone more with a CAS "look".

I have included butterfly wings on my cards and bird wings on my bookmarks.

Elizabeth Whisson, Our Daily Bread Designs, butterfly, Psalm 36:5, handmade card, Grunge Butterfly, 2 step butterfly, distress markers

I have coloured the Our Daily Bread Designs Grunge Butterfly Single (this stamp is also available in the God's Love set) with Distress Markers, spritzed with a little water and then stamped it onto white card. I've then done the same for both stamps from the ODBD 2 Step Butterfly but stamped them onto a separate piece of white card and diecut them with the ODBD Grunge Butterfly Die. I've popped these both up on foam tape over the grunge butterfly. The sentiment is from the Faith stamp set.

For more inspiration for this challenge please visit my talented design team sisters:

To see all the creations from the designers in one place or to join the challenge, click here. You have until 8 pm Sunday, 11 May EST (or 8 am Monday, 12 May AWST) to join us. For this challenge you may use any stamps but if you have any Our Daily Bread Designs stamps we would love to see you use them! If you participate you have the chance to win a $15 gift certificate toward ODBD stamps at their store or to be "spotlighted" for the Shining the Light Award (the Shining the Light Award is only for those who use ODBD stamps).
We would love to see your creations!!

Both 2 Step butterflies die cut and popped up on foam tape over the grunge butterfly.
I was stoked to find that I had this verse (one I used on my card) in my collection of Our Daily Bread Design stamps. My husband came back from church last Sunday (I didn't go as I've been sick) and tried to tell me about this song that they sang...but at the time he couldn't remember the words or how it went! Then a few days later he woke up with a start and said "I remember!" and proceeded to sing to me the song that he wanted to tell me about. I then looked it up - the song is Your Love Oh Lord (Psalm 36) by Third Day (you can listen to it here) and I thought the lyrics really fit in with this week's theme of wings.

This is the passage from the Bible that their lyrics essentially come from:

"Your lovingkindness, O LORD,
extends to the heavens,
Your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
Your righteousness is like the mountains of God;
Your judgements are like a great deep.
O LORD, You preserve man and beast.
How precious is Your lovingkindness,
O God!
And the children of men take refuge
in the shadow of Your wings."
 Psalm 36:5-7

As you can see I've used Pslam 36:5 on my card and the end of verse 7 talks about taking refuge in the shadow (or shelter) of the God's wings. What an amazing picture! I think of a mother bird cuddling her little baby to keep it safe under her wing - and that's what God does for us. We can take comfort in the fact that He is almighty and all powerful and protects us always!

Materials List:
Copics: None
Stamps: Our Daily Bread Designs Grunge Butterfly Single, 2 Step Butterfly and Faith
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black and Distress Markers Peeled Paint, Picked Raspberry, Mustard Seed, Shaded Lilac and Bundled Sage
Cardstock: X-Press It blending card
Other: mini mister with water, X-Press It high tack foam mounting tape

And here are some more projects:

For this card I have stamped the bible verse (from the ODBD Glory stamp set - only just released May 2014!) onto a white card. I then die cut a piece of X-Press It Mask-It with ODBD Vintage Labels Dies (also just released in May 2014). I placed the diecut Mask-It over the verse. I then stamped the ODBD Butterfly Single, using several different colours of distress ink, over the card. Removed the Mask-It and then used the same die from the ODBD Vintage Labels Dies to dry emboss around the verse. I then temporarily stuck the die down to the card and used it as a stencil to add a little Distress Ink for a frame.

Materials List:

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black and Distress Ink Spiced Marmalade, Picked Raspberry, Salty Ocean, Seedless Preserves and Tumbled Glass

For this bookmark I've inked one of the stamps from the ODBD Bookmarks - Trees set using different coloured Memento ink and stamped onto white card. I then added the verse, from ODBD Bookmarks - Verses, and diecut it with the ODBD Bookmark Dies. Then added some green ribbon.
