You can see the first card I made for this challenge here. Here is the card I made this week:
This week I have looked at Ecclesiastes 3:11 (the verse on my card) and thought about all of God's wonderful creation and how beatufiul He has made it. Everything has a place and purpose and God has made it all. I was especially thinking about the ocean where the wind and waves tumble shells and pebbles etc. and washing them up on the beach where we can admire the beautiful shells and smooth pebbles. We mustn't forget that we too are part of God's creation and God is constantly at work in us too. As we read and meditate on His word, and follow in His footsteps we become more like Him - and more spiritually "beautiful", in God's time.
To make the backgroud of my card I have first drawn a cloud border on a scrap piece of paper and cut it out and used this as a stencil to make my "clouds". I moved the stencil randomly over the top part of my card (even flipping the stencil over) as I blended Distress Ink Stormy Sky over the stencil. Then, without using the stencil, I blended in some Distress Ink Broken China, Frayed Burlap and Weathered Wood down the rest of the white card. (The Frayed Burlap and Weathered Wood pretty much overlap each other completely.)
I've then stamped the words from Ecclesiastes 3:11 (from Our Daily Bread Designs Faith stamp set) on the top right corner using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
For the image I have stamped the sand dollar, from Our Daily Bread Designs Ocean Treasures stamp set, onto watercolour card using Memento Tuxedo Black ink (this ink is waterproof when dry - perfect for watercolouring)! I've then roughly scribbled some Distress Markers Gathered Twigs, Tea Dye and Weathered Wood over the sand dollar (trying to put some of the darker marker where shadows would be) and then "coloured" over it all using a waterbrush "pen". I've then diecut the sand dollar using ODBD Circle Ornaments Die and then matted with ODBD Matting Circles die.
I've added some organza ribbon and some burlap and the cute little "button" is a diecut that comes with the ODBD Matting Circles dies. For my card base (and light blue card) I've used Bazzill textured card.

Elizabeth, your card is gorgeous!! I just love the soft blue violet sky you created in the background which makes your beautifully colored sand dollar pop!! Your added burlap gives so much texture. Beautiful design my friend!!
ReplyDeletehugs,

Lovely sand dollar Elizabeth! I looks really nice on the matting and love the burlap accent!
ReplyDeleteOh, Elizabeth, what a beautiful scene you've designed! I absolutely love what you've achieved with the sky, and the beach looks like reach sand! Beautiful sand dollar, and yes, such a great reminder of how we are continually being made more into the image of God. Beautiful texture with the burlap, twine, and sweet little "button" from the die set! And, yes, the best is the Scripture from Ecclesiastes. Another beautiful card, sweet friend! Hugs!
