This fortnights challenge, ODBDSLC216, at Our Daily Bread Designs is a Scripture Inspired challenge. Be inspired by Ecclesiastes 3:1 "There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven" (NASB).
Here is my card:
If you keep reading in Ecclesiastes 3 it talks about a time for .... nearly everything! For my card I thought about the second half of verse 2 - "a time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted". The image (Country Tree) on my card is a tree that has been uprooted and temporarily planted in a pot for decoration at Christmas - a time where we celebrate our Saviour's birth (the TRUE meaning of Christmas)!
For my card I have stamped the image, Our Daily Bread Designs Country Tree Single, onto X-Press It blending card and coloured with Copic markers.
Copic markers used:
Tree: G21, G24, G28, BG78
Red bows and ribbon: R22, R24, R29
Yellow stars: Y06
Purple baubles: V01, V04, V09
Pot: E42, E44, E47, E49
I've then diecut around the Country Tree using ODBD Circle Ornament Dies but I have left the very top of the tree uncut. I have done this by placing my ODBD Circle Ornament Die over all of the tree (making sure it is aligned around the base of the tree where I want it. I then used a sticky post-it note to hold the die in place. I use a Sizzix Big Shot - and instead of placing my top cutting pad over the whole of the die and image, I have aligned it with the part of the tree where I want the die to stop cutting. I.e. the top cutting pad should cover the area of the die and image you WANT to be cut, and the part of the image that you DO NOT want cut should have no top cutting pad over it. Once you've run it through the Big Shot (or other diecutting machine) your image will still be attached to your piece of card/paper. This is where you get some scissors and trim around the remainding part of the image. I hope that makes sense - it's a little hard to explain without pictures!
My image is backed using a diecut made from using ODBD Matting Circles Dies. The DP that I've used is ODBD Christmas Paper Collection 2013. The other card I have used is Bazzill textured.
I've also diecut some leaves and a bow (both from ODBD Circle Ornaments Dies). For the leaves I have inked them with some Distress Ink Pine Needles before removing from the die. I've then turned the leaves over and ran a stylus down the middle of each to make them bend a little in the middle. Each leaf is then attached to the card using Scrap Dots (or you could use foam tape).
The sentiment is from Our Daily Bread Designs Holly Wreath and has been stamped on a leftover piece of X-Press It blending card and diecut using ODBD Recipe Card and Tags Dies.
Lastly I've added some Inkssentials Glossy Accents to the baubles to make them look a little more 3D (see photo below).
