ODBDSLC216 - Scripture Inspiration (week 2)

It's now week two of the Our Daily Bread Designs Scripture Inspiration challenge, ODBDSLC216. Be inspired by Ecclesiastes 3:1 "There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven" (NASB).

You can see the first card I made for this challenge here. Here is the card I made this week:

Our Daily Bread Designs, Faith, Ocean Treasures, Circle Ornament Dies, Matting Circles Dies, Designed by Elizabeth Whisson, Distress Markers, Distress Ink, Ecclesiastes 3:11

This week I have looked at Ecclesiastes 3:11 (the verse on my card) and thought about all of God's wonderful creation and how beatufiul He has made it. Everything has a place and purpose and God has made it all. I was especially thinking about the ocean where the wind and waves tumble shells and pebbles etc. and washing them up on the beach where we can admire the beautiful shells and smooth pebbles. We mustn't forget that we too are part of God's creation and God is constantly at work in us too. As we read and meditate on His word, and follow in His footsteps we become more like Him - and more spiritually "beautiful", in God's time.

To make the backgroud of my card I have first drawn a cloud border on a scrap piece of paper and cut it out and used this as a stencil to make my "clouds". I moved the stencil randomly over the top part of my card (even flipping the stencil over) as I blended Distress Ink Stormy Sky over the stencil. Then, without using the stencil, I blended in some Distress Ink Broken China, Frayed Burlap and Weathered Wood down the rest of the white card. (The Frayed Burlap and Weathered Wood pretty much overlap each other completely.)

I've then stamped the words from Ecclesiastes 3:11 (from Our Daily Bread Designs Faith stamp set) on the top right corner using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

For the image I have stamped the sand dollar, from Our Daily Bread Designs Ocean Treasures stamp set, onto watercolour card using Memento Tuxedo Black ink (this ink is waterproof when dry - perfect for watercolouring)! I've then roughly scribbled some Distress Markers Gathered Twigs, Tea Dye and Weathered Wood over the sand dollar (trying to put some of the darker marker where shadows would be) and then "coloured" over it all using a waterbrush "pen". I've then diecut the sand dollar using ODBD Circle Ornaments Die and then matted with ODBD Matting Circles die.

I've added some organza ribbon and some burlap and the cute little "button" is a diecut that comes with the ODBD Matting Circles dies. For my card base (and light blue card) I've used Bazzill textured card.

Geraniums

I've been very busy lately making quite a few cards to enter in to one of the local shows here. I'm very excited as it's the first show I've entered my cards in - and tomorrow I will find out how I did! I wanted to share one of the cards I made using this gorgeous geranium stamp from "Geraniums Take Two" by Power Poppy.

Elizabeth Whisson, Geraniums Take Two, Power Poppy, powerpoppy, copics, handmade card, doodles, doodling, copic multiliner

I've stamped the Geraniums onto X-Press It blending card and coloured with Copic markers.

Copic markers used:
Flowers: RV21, RV23, RV25, RV29 and YG63 for deep shadows
Leaves: G02, G14, G16, G28 and C7 for shadows

I've then stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set, "Geraniums Take Two" by Power Poppy in the top right corner. And I've done some doodling around the edge using 0.5 mm and 0.1 mm Copic multiliners.

I am sharing this card over on the Power Poppy blog for 'Peep of the Week'

ODBDSLC216 - Scripture Inspiration

This fortnights challenge, ODBDSLC216, at Our Daily Bread Designs is a Scripture Inspired challenge. Be inspired by Ecclesiastes 3:1 "There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven" (NASB).

Here is my card:
Elizabeth Whisson, Christmas card, Copics, Our Daily Bread Designs, Holly Wreath, Circle Ornaments, Matting Circles, Christmas Paper Collection 2013, Recipe Card and Tags Dies, Country Tree, handmade card

If you keep reading in Ecclesiastes 3 it talks about a time for .... nearly everything! For my card I thought about the second half of verse 2 - "a time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted". The image (Country Tree) on my card is a tree that has been uprooted and temporarily planted in a pot for decoration at Christmas - a time where we celebrate our Saviour's birth (the TRUE meaning of Christmas)!

For my card I have stamped the image, Our Daily Bread Designs Country Tree Single, onto X-Press It blending card and coloured with Copic markers.

Copic markers used:
Tree: G21, G24, G28, BG78
Red bows and ribbon: R22, R24, R29
Yellow stars: Y06
Purple baubles: V01, V04, V09
Pot: E42, E44, E47, E49

I've then diecut around the Country Tree using ODBD Circle Ornament Dies but I have left the very top of the tree uncut. I have done this by placing my ODBD Circle Ornament Die over all of the tree (making sure it is aligned around the base of the tree where I want it. I then used a sticky post-it note to hold the die in place. I use a Sizzix Big Shot - and instead of placing my top cutting pad over the whole of the die and image, I have aligned it with the part of the tree where I want the die to stop cutting. I.e. the top cutting pad should cover the area of the die and image you WANT to be cut, and the part of the image that you DO NOT want cut should have no top cutting pad over it. Once you've run it through the Big Shot (or other diecutting machine) your image will still be attached to your piece of card/paper. This is where you get some scissors and trim around the remainding part of the image. I hope that makes sense - it's a little hard to explain without pictures!

My image is backed using a diecut made from using ODBD Matting Circles Dies. The DP that I've used is ODBD Christmas Paper Collection 2013. The other card I have used is Bazzill textured.

I've also diecut some leaves and a bow (both from ODBD Circle Ornaments Dies). For the leaves I have inked them with some Distress Ink Pine Needles before removing from the die. I've then turned the leaves over and ran a stylus down the middle of each to make them bend a little in the middle. Each leaf is then attached to the card using Scrap Dots (or you could use foam tape).

The sentiment is from Our Daily Bread Designs Holly Wreath and has been stamped on a leftover piece of X-Press It blending card and diecut using ODBD Recipe Card and Tags Dies

Lastly I've added some Inkssentials Glossy Accents to the baubles to make them look a little more 3D (see photo below).

ODBDSLC215 - Anything Goes with ODBD Stamps (week 2)

We are now in to week 2 of the Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light Challenge (ODBDSLC215) - Anything Goes with ODBD stamps. You can see the first card that I made for this challenge here. Here is my card for this week:

Elizabeth Whisson, Our Daily Bread Designs, Copics, Christmas Verses, Beautiful Borders dies, Vintage Flourish Pattern Dies, Matting Circles Dies, Mother and Child Ornament, Circle Ornament Dies, Joy to the World Hymn

For the background I've stamped Our Daily Bread Designs Joy to the World Hymn on silver card with Distress embossing ink and embossed using clear embossing powder (see image below for close up). The gorgeous blue diecut down the left side of my card is from ODBD Beautiful Borders die.

The way the light reflects off the silver card it almost looks like gold embossing - but it's actually clear :-)
For the image I have stamped Our Daily Bread Designs Mother and Child Ornament using Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-Press It blending card and coloured with Copic markers (I have the colours written down somewhere - will have to find them). I've then diecut using ODBD Circle Ornament dies and then matted with ODBD Matting Circles dies. The little ornament topper comes with the ODBD Circle Ornament dies and I've used my krylon gold leafing pen to colour it (thanks Cheryl for the idea)!

For my sentiment I have stamped the Merry Christmas from Our Daily Bread Designs Christmas Verses onto silver cardstock in black ink and clear embossed. I've then diecut it using a die from ODBD Vintage Flourish Pattern and matted with a larger die from the same set, ODBD Vintage Flourish Pattern dies.

Lastly I've added a few 4 mm silver sprinkles to the top right of my card.

ODBDSLC215 - Anything Goes with ODBD Stamps

Thank you for all your gorgeous entries in the Fall Inspiration challenge. It's time for a new challenge at Our Daily Bread Designs - this fortnight the challenge, ODBDSLC215, is Anything Goes with ODBD Stamps. For this challenge you must use Our Daily Bread Designs stamps. Here is my card (with a bonus bookmark!):

Elizabeth Whisson, Our Daily Bread Designs, Sand Dollar Bookmark, Ocean Treasures, Beautiful Borders, Christian Faith, handmade card, Elegant Ovals, Joy in a Jar, Antique Labels and Borders

For my bookmark I've stamped the Legend of the Sand Dollar from Our Daily Bread Designs Sand Dollar Bookmark using Memento Tuxedo Black onto some DP from ODBD Christmas 2013 Paper Collection. I've then diecut it using ODBD Bookmark dies and before removing it from the die I inked around the edge using Distress Ink Frayed Burlap. I diecut another (same size) bookmark from some light brown Bazzill textured cardstock and adhered this to the back of the Sand Dollar Bookmark (so that the bookmark looks nice on both sides). I added some organza ribbon at the top.

I've made my bookmark a little "holder" by diecutting two panels of the largest dies from ODBD Elegant Ovals dies. I scored and folded one of them (about 3/4 way down) and cut off the last 1/4 of the other diecut so that I could adhere the second one to the folded part of the first one and the shape of the elegant oval still lines up. I've then diecut then next size smaller ODBD Elegant Ovals dies out of some DP from ODBD Christian Faith Paper Collection and inked with Distress Ink Stormy Sky while it was still in the die. I then cut off the bottom 1/4 (to match the larger panel) and added a little more ink across the bottom.

I didn't want to add glue or tape around the edge of my "holder" (as my bookmark may then not fit!) so I decided to add some brads to keep them together but wanted the make the front a little prettier so I used part of a diecut from ODBD Beautiful Borders dies.

For the sentiment panel I stamped the outline from Our Daily Bread Designs Joy in a Jar using Memento Tuxedo Black onto some DP from ODBD Christmas 2013 Paper Collection. The sentiment is then stamped in the middle and comes from Our Daily Bread Designs Ocean Treasures stamp set. I've then diecut it using ODBD Antique Labels and Border Dies.

My blue background DP (from ODBD Christian Faith Paper Collection) has been stamped all over using the sand dollar image from Our Daily Bread Designs Ocean Treasures stamp set and Distress Embossing Ink and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. Here is a close-up:

The light brown and blue card that I've used is Bazzill textured cardstock and I've added some more organza ribbon and a bow to finish off my card.

Birthday Blog Hop

Welcome to Our Daily Bread Designs Birthday Blog Hop, celebrating Kelley's Birthday! Kelley is the awesome lady behind Our Daily Bread Designs and I feel blessed to be a part of her DT!

If you arrived here from Wanda's blog then you are in the right place, if not, you might want to start at the ODBD Blog and hop from there, or use the links at the end of this post. Here is the card that I made for her:

I have stamped the Our Daily Bread Designs Lavender three times onto X-Press It blending card using Memento Lulu Lavender. I've then stamped Our Daily Bread Designs Bee Balm using Memento Tuxedo Black over the Lavender and coloured with Copic markers.

I have stamped the Our Daily Bread Designs Hummingbird onto X-Press It blending card and diecut using ODBD Hummingbird die. I've then coloured the Hummingbird with Copics.

Copic markers used:
Flower and Hummingbird: YR02, YR04, YR09
Leaves: G82, G85, G94

For the sentiment panel I have stamped Our Daily Bread Designs Antique Label Designs onto X-Press It blending card and then stamped the sentiment, from Our Daily Bread Designs Be Joyful, and diecut using ODBD Antique Labels and Border Dies

The gorgeous little flowers are diecut from ODBD Christian Faith Paper Collection using one of the smallest dies from ODBD Ornamental Crosses dies. I've then turned them wrong side up on a foam mat (I used my sew easy mat but you could use anything soft such as a mouse pad, lots of layers of thin paper etc.) and used a stylus to curve each petal. I've also added an AnnaBelle stamps 3 mm Lilac sprinkle in the middle of each one. The greenery is diecut using ODBD Fancy Foliage die. I've cut one diecut in two to make the two sections.

Over on the right side of my card I've added some "lace" using ODBD Beautiful Borders dies. I love these dies and there are three gorgeous designs to choose from in the set, although I think this one is my favourite (I use it the most)!

The purple DP that I've used is ODBD Christian Faith Paper Collection and the red/orange/green DP is ODBD Blooming Garden Paper Collection. My card base is Bazzill textured cardstock and most panels have been inked around the edges with Distress Ink Milled Lavender.

The hummingbird and sentiment panel are popped up on foam tape and I've added some Crafter's Choice orange ribbon to finish off the card.

Happy Birthday Kelley!!

Thanks for having a look at my card - now you can hop along to Robin's blog.
