ODBDSLC236 - Scripture challenge

Here is my card:
Elizabeth Whisson, God Verses, Lantern Single, Our Daily Bread Designs, Copics, YouTube video, you tube, flowers, Chalkboard Paper Collection, Fancy Foliage, Ornamental crosses dies, Footprints in the sand, white embossing powder, speed colouring, black and white

I've made my card by stamping the verse from Our Daily Bread Designs God Verses onto X-Press It blending card using Memento Tuxedo Black. I then just used a post-it note to mask off the edge of the words "the" and "led" and stamped Our Daily Bread Designs Lantern Single onto my page (I also used a stamp positioner to ensure I put the image in the right spot). I have cut my cardstock to size and then used Copic multiliners 0.3 mm and 0.1 mm to extend the image a little (fence and wire) out to the edge of the cardstock. The image is then coloured with Copic markers.

Copic marker colours used
Background: BV23, BV25, BV29 and BV0000
Lantern: Y11, Y17, Y36 and C1, C3, C5, C7, C9
Wood: E21, E55, E57, E29
Plants: YG93, YG95, YG99 and YR31, E55
Highlight: Y11 and Y04
Shadows: C7; W3, W5, W7

Please visit my brand new YouTube channel to see a
Copic speed colouring video of this image (includes marker numbers as I colour).

I've taken a white pre-cut Fun and Fancy Fold card - Our Daily Bread Designs Tri-Fold Card and inked around the edge of where each panel will go with Copic marker BV29. I've cut panels to size from ODBD Chalkboard Paper Collection. The two panels on either side of my coloured image are plain black; however, I stamped part of the image from Our Daily Bread Designs Footprints in the Sand using clear embossing ink and embossed with white EP.

Each panel has been inked around the edge with Distress Ink Black Soot.

I've then diecut some leaves using ODBD Fancy Foliage dies and some flowers using ODBD Ornamental Crosses dies. The other flowers are from my stash.

I love this image and I love colouring it in. It reminds me of how God shows us the way to walk the paths of our lives through His word.

"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path"
Psalm 119:105

When God led the Israelites out of Egypt he went "...before them in a pillar of cloud by day to lead them on the way, and in a pillar of fire by night to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night" (Exodus 13:21). And the Lord continued to lead Israel through the desert for 40 years (this is what the verse on my card is referring to (Deuteronomy 8:2)).

I encourage you to read (or continue to read) God's word and pray that you may allow (or continue to allow) Him to show you the path for your life. Let Him lead your steps.

ODBDSLC235 - Inspiration challenge

Here is the card I made:

And here is the inspiration:

The plain cardstock that I have used is Bazzill heavyweight and textured card. The DP that I've used is from the ODBD Shabby Rose Paper Collection.

To make the background piece of my card I first made my own stencil by diecutting into a piece of card using ODBD Clouds and Raindrops dies. Here is a photo of my stencil:

I then used the stencil to ink the clouds and raindrops onto my DP using Distress Ink Worn Lipstick.

I've diecut two umbrellas using ODBD Umbrellas dies (from plain cardstock) and then diecut the umbrella top pieces (from ODBD Shabby Rose Paper Collection) using the same ODBD Umbrellas dies and stenciled them using Distress Ink Worn Lipstick. I ended up covering the base of the umbrellas more than I originally intended... but the umbrella on the right has actually been flipped over (the handle curves around to the left, instead of to the right like it normally would). The top of the umbrella die is symmetrical so the top pieces still fit perfectly.

I've stamped the sentiment from Our Daily Bread Designs April Showers using Memento Tuxedo Black and diecut using ODBD Pennant dies. I've then matted this with a piece I cut using ODBD Vintage Flourish Pattern Dies.

I've also diecut some leaves using ODBD Fancy Foliage dies (inked with Distress Ink Pine Needles while still in the die) and a fence using ODBD Fence die.

Lastly I added some flowers and pearls from my stash.

Copic Wide Markers

Eeeeeeeee....I'm so excited!!! :-)

A few weeks ago I saw this post on facebook and thought - what an awesome picture! You could comment on the post to win the full set of Copic Wide markers - so I did...
and I won (#WinterWIDE)!!!

I really couldn't believe it when I saw the e-mail. At first I thought it was a scam - it was a few weeks after I had commented on the post but I had a vague recollection of commenting to win some Copic Wide markers. So I went and checked out the post again - and ... wow... it wasn't a scam - I actually won!

So for the next two weeks I waited in anticipation until they arrived in the post yesterday! Check them out - aren't they awesome!!

Copic, markers, Copic Wide, #WinterWIDE, competition, winner, .Too, Copics, various ink, Elizabeth Whisson

I won the full set of Copic Wide markers. They come in 36 colours (although with the sets you get 35 colours. Two markers are "100 - Black" and you are missing the 0 - colourless blender).

The sets are 12A, 12B and 12C. Each set comes with the corresponding various ink for each colour too (and I think I've worked out why - the Copic Wide markers seem to use quite a bit of ink)!

Set 12A has V17, G07, R02, B24, R29, B29, YR04, B39, Y08, E29, YG03 and 100
Set 12B has R27, B32, Y15, B34, Y17, E04, Y26, E31, G21, E33, BG10 and E49
Set 12C has C1, C3, C5, C7, C9, W1, W3, W5, W7, W9, 100 and 110

12A is your bright colours, 12B has softer colours - browns and yellows and a few others and 12C is your grey and blacks.

You can also buy empty Copic Wide markers and fill them will any of the 358 Various Ink Colours. So you could end up with 358 colours in Copic Wide! I have some empty wide markers on order - the first thing I'm going to do is make a 0 - colourless blender.

You may notice that set 12C contains both 100 - Black and 110 - Special Black. I only own 110 in a Copic sketch marker so have never been able to compare the colours before. So I did my own comparison. They are very similar; however, I did find that the 110 - Special Black has a slightly more warmer / brown undertone whereas the 100 - Black has a cooler (darker?) undertone. In the image below I used a colourless blender to draw some of the colour out but I can see the difference more easily in the solid black lines.

Copic Wide markers are one ended (Sketch, Ciao and the original markers are all double-ended). They come with an Extra Broad, slanted nib which is 7/8" wide.

You can buy a broad calligraphy nib for the Copic Wide markers too. The calligraphy nib is flat across the top (not slanted) and has an 18 mm wide stroke. (I have some of these on order - will post later with some fun things you can do with them!)

So what do you use Copic Wide markers for???!! I only had one Copic Wide marker previously (B32) and I had been given that at a course. I haven't used it much but after seeing some gorgeous images that Ryan Spahr makes with Copic Wide markers I am itching to give it a try. And now I have the whole set to play with!

I had a read of this blog post and decided to try out some of the
Copic Wide techniques for myself.

More practice definitely required but I am excited to delve into the world of Copic Wide markers!

So do you want to win your own full set of Copic Wide markers?? Imagination International Incorporated is holding competitions all through 2015 with Copic Wide being the main focus. Check out their contests page on their website and/or keep an eye on their facebook page.

Have a great day and thanks for looking!

ODBDSLC234 - Sketch

The challenge this week at Our Daily Bread Designs is a sketch challenge, ODBDSLC234. Here is my card:

Our Daily Bread Designs, Thank you, Dragonfly Mini, ODBD Layered Lacey Squares Dies, ODBD Clouds and Raindrops Dies, ODBD Mini Tags Dies, ODBD Shabby Rose Paper Collection, Designed by Elizabeth Whisson, Copics, picnic, apples

And this is the sketch:

I've stuck to the sketch fairly well except that I've replaced the scalloped circle in the top right with a cloud.

For my card I have stamped the image from Our Daily Bread Designs Thank You onto X-Press It blending card and coloured with Copic markers.

Copic markers used:
Basket: E70, E74, E77, E79
Rug: E42, E44, E49
Apples and greenery: YG01, YG05, YG17, YG25, YG45, YG67 plus W3 and 0 on ground
Sky: BG93 and BG90

I've diecut the image using ODBD Layered Lacey Squares and stenciled with Copic marker BG93 using the Copic airbrush system and then matted with the largest die from the same set

The DP I've used on my card is from ODBD Shabby Rose Collection. It was a little too bright for my card so I airbrushed the whole DP panels with BG90.

On the lower rectangle panel going across the page I stamped Our Daily Bread Designs Dragonfly Mini using Ranger Perfect Pearls Medium and then "coloured in" with Perfect Pearls Pewter powder. You then just lightly mist with water to set the powder.

I've added some clouds and hearts to my card. For these I blended BG90 and BG93 on a piece of X-Press It blending card and then diecut the clouds and hearts using ODBD Clouds and Raindrops dies. The clouds are popped up on foam tape for added dimension.

I've stamped the sentiment from the Our Daily Bread Designs Thank You set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I then diecut it using ODBD Clouds and Raindrops dies and airbrushed with BG90 and BG93 while still in the die.

The larger heart near the thank you cloud is diecut using ODBD Mini Tags Dies. Most layers have been inked around the edges with Distress Ink Bundled Sage.

I hope you can see what I was getting at for this card. It's not that I like to go picnicking in the rain (although light showers I don't mind - I wouldn't want to be drenched!) I was more aiming for raining love (little hearts) and thank you. Think of it as showers of love :-) I've gone for more muted sort of tones for this card so maybe it's not a sunny picnic but a dry, cloudy/overcast one :-)

ODBDSLC233 Colour Challenge

Here is my card:

And here is the colour palette for you to choose your colours from:

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter celebrating what our wonderful Saviour has done for us! Our family went camping on the beach and we had beautiful sunny weather throughout most of the weekend. We had some lovely bush/beach walks and did some fishing (unfortunately the fish weren't biting our lines)! Our girls look forward to their Easter Egg hunt each year - and had fun finding the eggs amongst the sanddune plants this year. We also watched a video (several times) that I had found earlier online which tells the true Easter Story quite well (and it appealed to our girls because it's all done with lego). You can view it here. It's back to work today and the rain has started! (I think it's perfect timing - unless you work outdoors!)

For my card I have stamped the verse from Our Daily Bread Designs April Showers onto cardstock and diecut using one of the gorgeous ODBD Layered Lacey Squares dies. The umbrella is diecut using ODBD Umbrellas. The clouds are diecut using ODBD Clouds and Raindrops dies. The little raindrops come with both the Umbrellas and Clouds and Raindrops dies. I've added some glossy accents on my raindrops to give them a little dimension.

Most layers have been inked with Distress Ink Peacock Feathers or Seedless Preserves.

All of the Our Daily Bread Designs stamps and dies I have used on my card are new in the April 2015 release! Check them out, and much more, here. You can also view some gorgeous cards made by the ODBD Design Team using the April release here.

Christ is Risen

Easter is the time where we remember Jesus' death on the cross. Where He did His Father's will, and took all of our sins upon Himself, and died as the perfect sacrifice, for our sins. But He did not stay dead! Jesus has conquered death and has risen! He now sits at the right hand of His Father in heaven.

If we give our lives to Jesus and believe in what He did for us on the cross and raising to life - we too will spend eternity with Him in heaven when we die.

This reminds me of an awesome hymn called "Christ the Lord is Risen Today". Our Daily Bread Designs released this hymn as a rubber stamp in their March release (Christ the Lord background). You can get the stamp with the flowers around it (like I've used on my card) or you can get the plain hymn

Elizabeth Whisson, Our Daily Bread Designs, ODBD, ODBDDT, Christ the Lord is Risen Today, hymn, Flourished Star Pattern dies, Distress Ink Aged Mahogany

I've stamped the Our Daily Bread Designs Christ the Lord background onto ODBD Shabby Rose Paper Collection using Distress Ink Aged Mahogany. I've diecut the background using ODBD Flourished Star Pattern die. I've then inked around the edges in the same ink.

I've inked the "Risen Today" from the title of the hymn on the background stamp and stamped it on a separate piece of ODBD Shabby Rose Paper Collection. I've diecut this using ODBD Mini Tags Dies. The little cross is also from ODBD Mini Tags Dies. Both are inked with the same Distress Ink. I've tied these on using some dark brown twine. My cardstock base is Bazzill cardstock.

I hope you're having a wonderful Easter remembering the
awesome things Jesus has done for us!
